Meet the Board

Shea Belahi – Blue Moon Farm
Member since July 2014
Term: July 2014-June 2017

Shea has been farming since 2012. She ran her own farm for 3 years before accepting a new challenge at Blue Moon Farm, a 20-acre certified organic vegetable farm in Urbana, Illinois. She joined the Market Advisory Board in 2015 because she wanted to be more involved in the local food system.
Paris Baldarotta – Urbana Business Association

Term: January 2016-June 2019

Paris Baldarotta is the Executive Director of the Urbana Business Association. UBA is a non-profit organization with a mission to serve their members by making Urbana a dynamic place to live, work and do business. UBA currently provides a wide variety of member benefits and brings the community many exciting events and festivals throughout the year, including the Urbana Sweetcorn Festival and Uncork Urbana Wine Festival. Paris has a talent and passion for business and community development that has allowed her to be highly successful. Her extensive background and experience in sales, marketing, business development and event planning proves to be a great benefit to the Urbana community as a whole. Growing up in a small, Central Illinois town, as well as owning and operating a small business, has given her the passion to be a part of a close-knit community while helping local businesses grow.

Stan Schutte – Triple S Farm

Stan Shutte is the owner and operator of Triple S Farms. He specializes in pork, beef, free-range chicken and free-range turkey (when it’s in season). The farm was established in 1980 and has been family-owned and operated ever since!

About the Board

Urbana’s Market at the Square Advisory Board is composed of representatives of the City of Urbana, vendors, consumers, the Urbana Business Association, and others. The mission of the Board recognizes the continuation and growth of Urbana’s Market at the Square as essential to the vitality of our city. In addition, the Board will assist the City of Urbana by helping to guide the long-term activities of the Market and to attain the Market’s goals as described in the Urbana’s Market at the Square Strategic Plan. Composition of the Board consists of nine members, appointed by the Mayor, and approved by the Council, from constituencies representing various segments of the Market community which have experience, expertise or interest in the areas of farming, local food production, local food systems, urban planning, community and neighborhood organizing, event planning, business, or another related field, as follows:

  • 4 of any of the following vendors: fruits and/or vegetables, meat, dairy, honey, baked goods and other prepared foods
    • 3 of these vendors being full-season Market participants for at least four years
    • 1 vendor being a participant for less than four years
  • 1 vendor artisan
  • 1 community group representative from a current Market group
  • 1 downtown Urbana business representative
  • 1 Urbana resident, who is a Market patron but not a vendor or other Market participant
  • 1 City Council Member
